ÖZGE TOPÇU

Agora

The project of Özge Topçu who received FSAF’s 2017-2018 2nd term support with her site-specific installation project inspired by the idea of the marketplace - arguably one of the most organic entity of urban life - Agora was realized between the dates June 23 to July 7 at the Art Night London. After a series of 3 weeks long workshops in which she asked the participants to come up with designs for alternative public spaces which can be built from the crate, one of the key components of the market place, the participants and audiences were able to experience and socialize in this new public space built in New Covent Garden Market open space.

ÖZGE TOPÇU

1987, Born in Kirklareli, Turkey.

She graduated from Yildiz Technical University, Art and Design Faculty, Combined Arts Program with the highest honors in 2014. She currently continues MFA at Marmara University, Painting Department. In her works, her approach is based on the artificial fiction of the contemporary world system and how the absolute credibility of this fiction effects people. Thereupon, in order to question the credibility of the instruments of modernism which is one of these systems, she felt the need to operate the concepts of family-individual-construction of national identity as well as architectural propaganda in this new fiction by manipulating their contexts, spaces and places. She continues her artwork in Berlin, Germany.
